Monday, February 4, 2008 Counting down to CNY & STUCK AT HOME!
2 more days to CNY, a once a year holiday where chinese in Singapore gets to celebrate their new year, wearing new clothes, giving out red packets, visiting relatives and friends and eating goodies. We bought alot of new clothes for lyn lyn, anticipating that we'll bring her to many places for visiting. Auntie jen even bought a korean dress (小长今）for her, so she can wear to to anutie joanne's house coming sunday to show off....all went well till lyn's temperature shot up on saturday morning. She was 39.3 when i woke up around 8am to measure her. As she had suffered fibrile fits before, i told my mom that we should not delay to bring her to the dr. Dr took her temperature, it was already 39.6 and when he tried to look into lyn's mouth, he discovered it was sore & red. Dr prescribed some med to lower the fever, 1 is syrup and the other is a bullet form, to be inserted into her anus. Sat came & went & lyn's temperature went up & down, like a roller coaster. She refused to eat and drink, and this really worried us. Sunday morning, she was better, no more fever, so we decided to bring her to Causeway point so my mom could buy some clothes for CNY. 2 hours there, we saw rashes all over lyn's arms....worrying that it could be chicken pox, we decided to take her to KKH children's A&E. The dr there prescribed that she has HFM disease, and gave us med. Told us to let her drink anything that she can swallow, milo, milk, etc, so she has energy and won't be dehydrated. Dr said if by moday she's still not drinking, she'll need to be taken back to KKH & be put on drips... So me & k went to buy fruits to make her juices, bought her strawberry milk, banana, even ice cream, hoping just that she can eat/drink a little every hour. Monday, she woke up and we gave her some soy milk. she drank 2 sips & refused the rest. But she did eat some rice and more ice cream that we like...but since ice cream contains milk and stuff, i figure it should keep her going... Mom's friend came in the evening to visit lyn. Her grand-daughter had HFM too last year. She said lyn's case doesn't seem like HFM, cos though lyn has uclers in the mouth (that's why she's not eating), but her rashes looks more like heat rash, so she said it's probably due to heatiness...her grand-daughter's case is much worse, even the lips kena and would bled even when you touch it slightly....hope lyn's case will not turn towards that... It already pains my heart seeing her not eating and drinking...she's forever going around asking for food and drinks, and now, even if you shove a sweet up to her, she'll shake her head...please let her recover soon.........even though we will not get to go out, i rather see a happily eating & drinking boo staying at home, chasing after us, asking for her "mum mum" (food), then every hour we have to worry whether she'll want to eat anything...she pointed at her stomach and said “饿饿” a few times today, but you give her something to drink, she'll refused...haiz.......
